Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen? source.

I read this graphic novel and absolutely loved it. When I heard it was being turned into a film, I was beyond excited.

The characters and visuals are just stunning in this film. My favorite, Rorschach, was so bad ass. Everything from his voice to the way he moved and the way he acted was just fantastic. I was quite surprised by Jon/Dr. Manhattan. In the novel, I didn't really care much for him but he surprised me while watching him on film. I guess I was able to get more of what he was talking about through visually seeing him. Dan and Laurie...eh, they were so so. Veidt, he was cast well I think.

President Nixon's nose was unusually large, or was that just my observation? Was his nose that big?

Also, what ever happened to those crazy cigarettes Laurie smoked in the novel? There was no sign of them in the movie and that sort of bummed me out. They were cool looking.

I give this movie a rating of 5/5.

It's 1955. Frank and April Wheeler, in the seventh year of their marriage, have fallen into a life that appears to most as being perfect. They live in the Connecticut suburbs with two young children. Frank commutes to New York City where he works in an office job while April stays at home as a housewife. But they're not happy. April has forgone her dream of becoming an actress, and Frank hates his job - one where he places little effort - although he has never figured out what his passion in life is. One day, April suggests that they move to Paris - a city where Frank visited during the war and loved, but where April has never been - as a means to rejuvenate their life. April's plan: she would be the breadwinner, getting a lucrative secretarial job for one of the major international organizations, while Frank would have free time to find himself and whatever his passion. Initially skeptical, Frank ultimately agrees to April's plan. When circumstances change around the Wheelers, April decides she will do whatever she has to to get herself out of her unhappy existence. source.

This was a fantastic film. And, so very real. Real with both emotion and domestic situations. I find the chemistry between Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio to be very rare amongst actors and it shines on screen. This isn't a film I think I'd ever own, what with how heavy the content is, but it was great nevertheless.

I give this movie a rating of 5/5.

Sabrina is the young daughter of the Larrabee family's chauffeur who has been in love with David Larrabee for all her life. David is very spoiled and crazy for women, and has been totally ignoring Sabrina for years. When Sabrina goes to Paris for a few years, she returns a very attractive and sophisticated woman, and David is quickly drawn to her. David's brother Linus sees this and fears that David's imminent wedding with a very rich woman may be endangered. If the wedding is canceled, so will a great corporate deal with the bride's family. So, Linus tries to keep Sabrina off his brother, and the best way to do so is by charming her himself. source.

Overall, I loved this film. What really ticked me off was the ending. I had absolutely no idea that Audrey Hepburn's character, Sabrina, would end up actually getting on the boat with Humphrey Bogart's character, Linus. Throughout the entire film there is no chemistry between the two (other than the fact that he's faking it for most of the movie.) I don't know, I would either have wanted her to go back to Paris on her own or with David.

I give this film a rating of 3/5.
